Public Art > Circular > Arte na Praça
The Marina da Gloria was completely redone for the 2016 Olympic Games, it is placed in a unique setting with a breathtaking view of Christ Redentor, the Sugar Loaf, the Nossa Senhora da Gloria church and the city center. It wished to be part of the cultural life of the city and Marc Pottier proposed an annual meeting in November to invite contemporary artists who could imagine works in situ that responded to the chosen themes. The option of working with “Monumental” works was because you have to think big to fight against the strength of the Marina landscape. And the first edition was of monumental works. In 2017 the theme was Artists in Movement and in 2018 an exhibition paying tribute to the women artists. After three versions this project is now at a standstill hoping to restart in the near future.
